JR... Vaughn Gittin... Captain Clutchkick -- whatever it is you want to call him -- he is a self-taught and dedicated drifter who has been rockin' and rollin' his way through the sport of drifting for the last four years. Blame it on the go-carts he toyed around with when he was four, but JR has always had a fascination with sliding anything with an engine. At the tender age of 13, JR was riding dirt bikes and he raced in motorcross for four years. Most of JR's practice and training was done in industrial parking lots such as Englishtown Raceway; this is where many of today's top drifters began their career including his Drift Alliance teammates Tony Angelo and Chris Forsberg. JR is best known for his full-throttle smokescreen drifts and his intense, yet humble, personality. This heavy right-foot drifter has remained in fourth place overall in both the 2005 and 2006 seasons of the Formula D Series. JR made drifting history at Irwindale Speedway in 2005 when he took home first place at the D1GP World All-Star Competition. This historic event made him the first American driver to ever win in the D1GP series. At the same event one year later, JR finished 9th overall and was once again the highest ranked American in the event-- and in the world. In 2006, JR continued to promote the sport by traveling with the boys to Canada, China, and El Salvidor to participate in demonstrations. But even with his busy schedule, JR makes time for local events on both coasts and for rookie drivers in need of some guidance. In 2007, JR gave up his job of five years as an IT technician to pursue his dream of driving full-time. So he threw away his button-ups to work in his racing suit and welcomes the challenges and triumphs he will face this year. In the upcoming season, JR's overall goals are to have fun, rock out and enjoy the opportunities that his fans, sponsors and dedication have brought to him. Stay tuned for all the excitement and craziness this season will bring! .
