BALTIMORE, Md. (June 25, 2013) – Over the weekend, Vaughn Gittin Jr. and the RTR Drift Team made their way to Wall Stadium Speedway in Wall Township, New Jersey for Formula Drift Round 4: “The Gauntlet”. The 2010 Formula D Champion and the Monster Energy Nitto Tire Ford Mustang RTR supported by ASD Motorsports remained in 2nd place overall in points in the Championship after their top 16 event finish.
Wall Stadium Speedway hosted a sold-out crowd and the RTR Drift team activation area was a prime destination for the fans to pick up some fresh gear, take a picture with the Monster Energy models, get at autograph from Vaughn, charge their phone and use the free Ready to Rock Wi-Fi, or check out the Mustang RTR Spec 2. Vaughn’s ’69 Mustang RTR-X made itself at home over at the Nitto Tire display, and the carbon fiber Mustang RTR-C at the K&N Filters booth.
Back on track Vaughn was matched with Formula Drift veteran Ken Gushi in his top 32 battle. After a One-More-Time, Vaughn was able to outdrive Gushi and get the win.
Vaughn met current points leader Daigo Saito in the top sixteen. Unfortunately Vaughn spun in his lead run from his aggressive angle, giving Daigo the win and ending his day early.
“While our results are not what we wanted to leave here with, I am very happy with our overall performance as a team,” says Vaughn. “We overcame some significant challenges that the weekend tossed our way and we are pumped to continue our Championship chase in Seattle!”
With his top 16 finish, Vaughn remains in 2nd place overall in the Formula Drift Championship, 61 points behind Daigo Saito in first. Check out this VIDEO from one of Vaughn’s practice runs at Wall Speedway.
