Team RTR Wins Formula Drift Texas
In all motorsports, there's a degree of uncertainty, but what elevates one team from the next is how they handle the pressure when it strikes. On Saturday, Vaughn's RTR Motorsports team rose to the challenge when debris caused his oil pump belt to break, forcing them to have to replace his engine during his final practice. Having prepared extensively for this, the team had the replacement engine and additional parts track side in no time. However, due to the timing of the incident and where Vaughn's battle fell in the bracket they ultimately came up just 10 min short of successfully completing the swap.
Though down, the RTR team was never out and quickly turned their full attention to Vaughn's teammate Chelsea DeNofa. Chelsea put his pedal to the floor, and maybe a bit through it, putting on a clinic winning battle after battle late into the night until he found himself standing atop the first-place step. A roller coaster of a day, the character or the RTR team was tested, thrived and showed the Formula Drift competitors and community that all the changes and development that has been going on behind the scenes is now the force to be reckoned with that everyone has come to expect from this team and drivers.
Next up Vaughn will head to Bowling Green, KY for Ford Fest before wrapping up the Formula Drift season in Irwindale, CA on October 19th.
